Description: Blood roses appear to be normal rose bushes but are actually animated plants, dimly aware of their surroundings. These plants are always in bloom, bearing beautiful white flowers. The fragrance of the flowers is detectable up to 30 away'; those who inhale the fragrance must save vs. Poison or become charmed, subject to the will of the blood rose. In rare situations, the blood rose will actually wrap itself around the body of its victim and become a parasite, draining only enough blood to keep its host alive indefinitely. Typically, however, blood roses attack using a thorny, whiplike vine to lacerate its victims and consume as much blood as possible.

Cursed treants are somewhat stronger than normal treants, not only possessing the ability to attack with two large fists but able to drain the lifeforce from its victims as well (Save vs. Poison or lose one hit point permanently). These monsters have several animated limbs that can wrap around the necks of living creatures that pass beneath, strangling them for 1d6 points of damage per round. The roots of the tree are also animated; they do not attack but they do try to pull dead bodies below the surface to digest them.

Shamblers attack with two woody appendages, sometimes engulfing their opponents; when engulfed, victims are totally incapacitated and cannot do anything for several rounds. Description: Shamblers appear to be heaps of rotting vegetation with an eight-foot girth, about six feet tall and weighing nearly 4000 pounds. Roughly humanoid in appearance, they are actually quite intelligent, carnivorous plants with sensory organs located within their upper body. Like their smaller shambling mound brethren, they attack with two huge arm-like appendages and can often constrict their opponents as well, rendering them unable to do anything for several minutes.
